Frik- Algerian Ramadhan Starter Recipe


This starter was popular in the entire Ottoman Empire, Mediterranian and India. Today it is served as starter in Ramadhan, the Muslims fasting month. It has a MSG like flavour and there are many ways to cook it.It is sooooo tasty, I could break my fast with only this. Below is Algerian way of cooking it. Bulghur/Burgul burghul

Serve 2

1/2 cup cracked wheat(bulghur)
1/2 cup of cubed beef or chicken
2 cups water
salt
any spices you like
1/3 cup chopped tomato
1 tbsp oil
2 garlic chopped

Method
1) Boil everything except the garlic for 15 minutes.
2) Mix the garlic in at the end of cooking. Blend it in a blender to the texture you like
3) Serve If you are East Asian and crazy about instant noodles give this a try. I am sure you will LOVE it!
