Malaysian Grilled Catfish in Coconut Milk

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of God, the Most Loving, the Most Merciful


This is a very popular dish in Negeri Sembilan , a state south of Malaysia. It is very simple but surprisingly yummy.


 only 6 ingredients are needed for this recipe

INGREDIENTS A:
1 kg (2lb) grilled catfish or any other grilled fish

5 cups of thick coconut milk
2 pieces asam keping (or 5 tbsp tamarind juice or lime juice)
salt to taste

 INGREDIENTS B: TO BE WELL POUNDED OR CRUSHED IN BLENDER
5-10 bird eye chilli or dried red chilli (more if you like it very spicy)
 4 cm turmeric or 1 heap tsp powdered turmeric


METHOD
1) Combine the coconut milk and the pounded ingredients B
2) Bring to boil
3) Add asam keping  or tamarind juice. Let boil for 1 minute
4)  Add the fish and salt and boil for another 5 minutes
5) Serve with rice
